Author Interview- Pastor George McVey – Redeeming Trail: Redemption Tales Book 2
What sort of inspiration got you to write your book?
Now this is an interesting story. This book was the book I wasn’t planning to write. Book one was supposed to get my characters from Franklin Missouri to Redemption New Mexico but for some reason in Redeeming Reputation they just wouldn’t leave Franklin. So I was stuck needing to get them to Redemption and Redeeming Trail was born.
What makes this book special among others of its type?
Personally I think because it is a Character driven western not necessarily and action driven one. Don’t get me wrong there are the obligatory showdowns and fistfights and gunfights. But it is the story of these people traveling together becoming friends and neighbors and even sort of family through the journey together that makes it what it is.
Where were you born and where do you call home?
I was born at Charleston Memorial Hospital In Charleston WV. Why because that’s where my mom was at the time. Though I have lived on both coasts and various places in between I am once again in Charleston WV.
Tell us about something that has just happened or is about to happen in your life that you would like to share.
Oh no I don’t share well with others. It comes from being the Oldest child I always had to “share” with my little sister which meant giving it to her so now I don’t “share” anything but if you want to share the cost of a dinner I will be happy to let you do so.
Is there an Author that you would really like to meet?
I have lots of Indie author’s that I consider friends that I talk with online or on the phone all the time. To be very honest I would rather meet all of them somewhere for a great big party than any super famous writer but if I absolutely have to pick one it would be Stephen King just to ask dude what are you eating before bed that make you dream such wacko stuff?
Do you prefer e-books, paperbacks or hardcover?
yes I do
Are you a self-published (Indie) Author?
I am I’m a bit of a control freak when it comes to my work so I don’t think I could ever hand over creative control to anyone else to have the final say on what my creations should say and do.
What book would you like to read again?
Well see I have this problem with a 90% memory retention rate it makes it very hard to read anything again. I just don’t do it unless I have to. I’m doing a bit of audiobook narration and even that is hard for me to do because I already know what is going to happen and just can’t find the joy I did when I read it the first time.
Who designed the cover of your book?
I did with the help of some great advice from the Christian Indie Cover Artist Facebook group.
So do you like to cook? Do you have a favorite food?
Yes I love to cook and I do have a favorite food. It’s Red eye Squirrel gravy over grits. No really it’s Beef Stroganoff but it should be Red Eye Squirrel Gravy over Grits.
Do you prefer vanilla or chocolate ice cream?
I am not really a big Ice cream fan more orange sherbet kind of guy
Do you use a laptop or desktop for writing?
Yes
Where and when do you prefer to do your writing?
I have three spots that I love to write in My office at the church, My office at the house (a corner of my bedroom with desk and computer set up)
List three books you just recently read and would recommend?
Oh man this is hard for me to do. I read so many books a week and review at least three every week. Let me see one I absolutely have to mention is “Cat Tales and Whiskers” by Cillia Naden a 13 year old dyslexic young woman with a great imagination. One of the best YA writers I’ve read in a long time. I have to mention either of the Stones Creek Novels by my writing Partner Sophie Dawson. Then on a totally different vein I just finished the book “Running Through the Raindrops” by Pastor’s wife and hectic mother of 4 Lori Elliot. That was a fun and informative book for parents of all ages.
Where can your readers stalk you?
NO Stalking I write Westerns and they don’t call my main Character “The Preacher” for no reason if you take my meaning. Hand hovers near My Colt. However, if you want to mosey on over and say Howdy I reckon I’m all right with that.
